Stadtforum Dresden

Gebäude vor blauem Himmel, im Vordergrund Menschen, Autos und Bäume

Between 2022 and 2025, a new nine-storey building was constructed for Dresden's city administration in the centre of the city. In addition to the ‘Urban Development, Construction, Transport and Real Estate’ and ‘Environment and Climate, Law and Order’ divisions, the Office for Economic Development is also based here. The more than 1,350 employees will now have around 1,000 workplaces at their disposal. Following the idea of the New Work concept, there are flexible work areas including thinking spaces and work islands instead of traditional cubicle offices. The move away from permanently assigned and hierarchy-bound workstations helps to strengthen cross-office project work and organise processes more efficiently. These open-plan office areas, which are not accessible to the public, are located on the upper floors of the new building. Short distances speed up and simplify internal and external communication within the building, while the elimination of unused space also saves energy resources and costs. Thanks to its central location and modern room layout, the new Stadtforum is both citizen-friendly and visitor-friendly.

As a partner in the shell segment and building extension, PohlCon supplied this project with a variety of products. Our JDA punching shear reinforcement was chosen to transfer high support forces in reinforced concrete ceilings and foundations. It increases the punching shear resistance of a component and its load-bearing capacity. We also supplied cold-formed anchor channels of type JTA K and hot-rolled anchor channels of type JTA W in various lengths and variants. They are characterised by a high transfer of static and dynamic loads from tension and shear perpendicular to the rail axis. In addition, cold-formed, toothed anchor channels of type JZA K were used. They absorb static loads from all directions and ensure a non-slip, positive connection.

As part of the project, extensive services in the area of cable routing and installation infrastructure were successfully realised. A total of 4.2 km of ‘RG’ cable trays were manufactured, supplied and installed for the safe and standard-compliant routing of the cables. To suspend the trays, 1,800 ‘MA 60’ middle suspending brackets and 6.5 km of threaded rods were used to ensure stable fastening.
In addition, 700 metres of ‘STU 50’ vertical ladders were installed to ensure safe vertical cable routing. 1.3 kilometres of ‘KHA 7’ and ‘KHA 8’ profile rails were used for the horizontal and vertical fastening of the installations. In addition, more than 6,000 cable clamps were installed to reliably secure the cables.

Another part of the order was the production and delivery of around 450 metres of the ‘UKR’ underfloor system. This system comprised 1,600 pre-assembled device boxes, around 1,000 ‘UEK3’ hinged cover units and the associated device carriers and installation boards, which enable flexible and efficient electrical installation in the floor area.

PohlCon's many years of expertise and its versatile product portfolio make the company a reliable and valued project partner. We are therefore delighted that we were once again able to support a public sector construction project.
