The Technical University of Berlin is expanding and adding new buildings to its East Campus. One of these is the Institute of Mathematics. From 2027, it will replace the old institute building from the early 1980s, which is in need of renovation. In future, 2,500 students of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering, as well as 600 people of university staff, will study, research and work here. Five lecture halls, a library, a cafeteria and 40 work, meeting and seminar rooms will then be available to them on over 15,000 m² of floor space.

The Institute of Mathematics is another educational building that PohlCon was involved in constructing. Our company supplied a wide range of products for the project, particularly in the field of cable support systems.

To ensure orderly and flexible cable routing, mesh trays, perforated RG cable trays and RGS cable trays designed for heavy loads were supplied and installed – a total of 4,700 metres. We also supplied 1,000 metres of LGG cable ladders. These are suitable for medium to large cable diameters and offer excellent cable ventilation. More than 1,000 KW and KWMS brackets were used to securely fasten the cable trays to the wall and ceiling. In combination with the KDU and KHU bracket holders and 4,500 GB threaded rods, they enable high load transfer; the support structure can also be adjusted variably. In addition, 4,500 perforated profile rails of type KHA and KHB were used as additional construction profiles and for fastening cable clamps.

In addition, PohlCon supplied and installed 570 m of its screed-flush underfloor duct system. The project-specific heavy-duty special variant allows for orderly cable routing in the floor, while integrated floor boxes provide easy access to the media. In addition to moulded parts, the scope of delivery also included countless connecting, fastening and accessory elements.
