A Strong Partnership: WCPS & OMRON

OMRON is combining its expertise in mobile robotics with our contactless charging infrastructure. A recent blog post by OMRON Robotics demonstrates how this collaboration creates added value in practice.

OMRON is one of the world’s leading technology companies, employing around 26,000 staff and generating a turnover of approximately 4.8 billion euros. In the field of robotics, the company develops, amongst other things, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) that flexibly handle transport tasks in production and logistics.

With our Wireless Charging Protection System (WCPS), we complement this technology with the appropriate charging infrastructure. Our solutions make it possible to integrate wireless charging points directly into work and traffic areas – either flush with the floor, in a raised floor, or as a platform on the floor, depending on requirements. Together with the charging technology from “Wiferion – a PULS brand”, this creates a solution that integrates charging into the ongoing work process.

Two areas of expertise, one goal

OMRON Robotics explains how this collaboration creates added value in practice in a recent blog post entitled “Turning AMR Stops into Charging Opportunities”. The article demonstrates how the inevitable pauses in the operation of mobile robots in logistics can be turned into targeted charging opportunities. The advantage is that mobile robots do not need to travel to a separate charging station for every charging cycle. Instead, they can recharge during regular stops, such as at handover stations or in staging areas. This can improve vehicle utilisation, eliminate the need for additional charging areas and make material flows more efficient.

The post makes it clear that not every application requires the same charging strategy. The key factors are where robots stop regularly and how these moments can be put to good use. This joint blog post demonstrates how two specialised solutions can be combined to form a compelling overall concept for intralogistics.

Incidentally, the Dresden-based robotics company Fabmatics is also one of our partners. The following case study shows how our solutions, in combination with Wiferion’s charging pads, are used as a raised floor application in cleanrooms (in german):
