At the southern end of Kiel's harbour - the so-called Hörn - an urban development transformation has been taking place for years. A new 27-hectare urban quarter is being created on the former industrial wasteland, which will focus on living and working as well as social and cultural facilities.
It is one of the most significant redevelopment and economic development projects in Schleswig-Holstein and is therefore of great importance for the state capital.
Two modern residential and commercial buildings with a view of the Kiel Fjord are being built in a central location at Willy-Brandt-Ufer. The U-shaped, six-storey building contains 100 freehold flats and has an inner courtyard open to the water. There is a commercial space of approx. 450 sqm in the basement, which will probably be used for catering. 87 underground car parking spaces are available. The second building consists of a two-part, six- to seven-storey complex and a single-storey block, which are connected to each other. There is space for 74 owner-occupied flats, a commercial space of around 330 sqm and 70 underground parking spaces.
PohlCon supported the project and the construction company Implenia Hochbau GmbH with a wide range of products.
Various versions of the JORDAHL JVAeco+ facing brick bracket were used on the facades. The JTA W and JTA K anchor channels and JDA punching shear reinforcement were also used. The RAPIDOBAT® formwork tube from our H-BAU Technik division was chosen for the production of columns. FERBOX® reverse bending connectors were used to ensure a force-fit connection between the individual construction elements. The ISOMUR® wall base element, which impresses with its outstanding thermal insulation properties, was used for the plinth construction.
The developers of Kieler Hörn GmbH & Co. KG, consisting of NGEG, FRANK, Bpb-bau and Haus und Grund, expect the project to be completed in 2024.
