New railway station squareHerisau, Switzerland

The town of Herisau, located in the north-west of Switzerland, is receiving a new five-track railway station including a spacious square and bus station with eight stops, as part of a major project. This will create a weather-protected transfer point between modes of transport.
The transport hub will form a modern interface between the city and the region and give the city a new urban structure and quality. The project, which consists of several construction phases, also entails a number of other new developments that will not only serve to improve transport connections and routing. Construction work on the project, which will cost around 60 million Swiss francs, began in 2024 and is scheduled to end in 2029.

PohlCon supported the construction of the station square with its FIBERNOX® V-ROD GRP reinforcement. The reinforcement, which is made of glass fibre-reinforced composite material, is characterized by its alkali and corrosion resistance as well as its durability; it is also non-magnetic and non-electrically conductive. Straight reinforcing bars with diameters of 12-32 mm, curved reinforcing bars with diameters of 12-16 mm and plastic spacer tubes were supplied. In co-operation with the planning office CBP, the tight schedule including technical modifications was met.
We are pleased about another infrastructure project in which PohlCon was able to participate.
