Airport FrankfurtFrankfurt, Germany

With almost 60 million passengers (2023), Frankfurt Airport is Germany's largest and Europe's sixth largest airport. In 2026, passenger numbers, which have fallen due to the pandemic, are expected to return to pre-crisis levels (~70.5 million) and grow continuously from then on.
In order to meet future needs, Fraport AG is continuously expanding its infrastructure and is building a new, third terminal since 2015.

PohlCon was selected as a reliable manufacturer and partner for the technical expansion and has been on site in Frankfurt since 2021. The scope of the order does justice to the dimensions of an airport: PohlCon has produced, supplied and installed 123 km of cable trays, almost 50 km of vertical ladders and C-rails as well as 14 km of KHU profiles. A further 380,000 individual components ensure the correct positioning and fastening of these.
More than 140 employees from various departments are supervising the project in order to bring it to a successful finish together with Fraport AG.

Terminal 3 is scheduled to open in 2026 with three piers and a capacity of up to 19 million passengers per year. In its final form, with a fourth pier, it will be able to handle up to 25 million passengers a year.
The building floor area of around 176,000 sqm is roughly the size of 25 football pitches. If all the floor space is included, it will be even more than 400,000 sqm. Thanks to the new Sky Line railroad, the new building is connected to the existing terminals and has its own highway access as well as 8,500 parking spaces in the purpose-built parking garage.
