PohlCon at 13 trade fairs
During the coronavirus pandemic, many trade fairs at which PohlCon would have liked to exhibit were repeatedly postponed. All the greater was the joy about the full trade fair calendar 2023 - an enthusiasm that was clearly reflected in the large number of exhibitors and visitors. PohlCon's biggest trade fair successes undoubtedly included our participation in BAU, Intersolar, eltefa, Interlift and the three editions of Architect@Work (A@W).
We presented an exciting mix of products from our three brands PUK, JORDAHL and H-BAU Technik to the international audience at BAU München, the renowned world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems in Munich. Visitors were able to discover a wide range of solutions for thermal insulation, TGA, waterproofing, formwork and façades, among others, at haptic modules.
Genera in Madrid and Intersolar were the trade fair highlights of the past year for subsidiary PohlCon Solar. Both events proved to be the ideal platform for presenting its high-quality mounting systems and substructures for photovoltaic and large-scale solar installations.
After a corona-related break, the most important trade fairs for the electrical industry, eltefa and efa:ON, also took place again - and PohlCon was of course there. At our stand, guests were able to find out about solutions for prefabricated construction, fire protection and functional maintenance, for example. A particular eye-catcher for those interested in intralogistics was the innovative WCPS protective housing for efficient in-process charging.
This year's elevator industry trade fair, Interlift, was also a complete success for the company. Not least thanks to the overwhelming response to the modern JAI elevator insulation.
The crowning glory of the trade fair year was the last of the three Architect@Work events in which PohlCon 2023 took part. At the networking platform for architects and planners, PohlCon shone with SystemPLUS, an award-winning room system for elegant ceiling design - perfectly coordinated with the exclusive A@W concept.
Change of management
Looking back on the year 2023, May 1 marks a significant milestone for PohlCon: Oliver D. Gessert took over as Managing Director on this day, ushering in a new era for the company. With his impressive experience in the aviation industry and the sanitary industry, as well as his previous role as sole Managing Director of KWC Aquarotter GmbH, Gessert brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to the role.
Since taking office, Gessert has worked intensively with the PohlCon team to further develop the company. As Deputy Chairman of the VDMA Fittings Association, he also brings valuable expertise to the association's work. May 1st therefore not only marks the beginning of a new management team, but also the starting point for a strategic realignment of the company.
Gessert emphasizes the enormous potential opened up by PohlCon's broad product range and sees this as an outstanding opportunity to position the fourth-generation family business for the future.
New products from PohlCon
At last year's trade fairs, PohlCon presented many exciting new products, including Sinton® Q, WANDA and JLF.
PohlCon completed its staircase product portfolio with Sinton® Q, an impact sound insulation element specially developed for spiral staircases. The solution offers maximum flexibility and high load-bearing capacity, adapted to different joint widths. Sinton® Q1, with an inclinable reinforcement cage, responds to the specific challenges of spiral staircases and meets the highest requirements for fire protection and sound insulation. The solution reduces impact sound by up to 34 dB and exceeds the standards of DIN 4109-5.
With WANDA, PohlCon presented a flush-wall channel that enables the intelligent integration of sockets, switches and smart home devices in prefabricated walls. Flexible installation during the shell construction phase, magnetic stainless steel panels and space savings make WANDA an aesthetic alternative in office buildings, hotels and high-quality residential construction.
At the last Interlift, we also presented the new JLF lift shaft anchor. This facilitates installation and maintenance work in the elevator shaft. With an anchor point set in concrete, JLF offers efficiency and convenience. Thanks to an innovative magnetic snap lock, the system facilitates the temporary attachment of material loads. JLF is available in JLF 20 and 40 versions for different load requirements and enables quick and easy installation.
The year 2023 thus marks not only an expansion of PohlCon's product portfolio, but also the introduction of innovative solutions for improved sound insulation, intelligent wall integration and efficient work in the elevator shaft. These advanced products set new standards in the fields of construction and technical building equipment, and PohlCon remains consistently on the path of innovation and excellence.
110 years of anchor channels
In 2023, PohlCon celebrated the 110th anniversary of the anchor channel, which was invented by Anders Jordahl over a century ago and changed construction technology forever. The patented product is a symbol of the company's pioneering spirit and expertise.
The anchor channels of the PohlCon brand JORDAHL offer a wide range of fastening solutions in elevator and precast construction as well as in tunnel, bridge and power plant construction. Whether hot-rolled or cold-formed, serrated or curved, they form a flexible system for absorbing loads on reinforced concrete components and can be adapted to new requirements at any time.
The trust of planners, architects and building owners worldwide confirms the high standard of PohlCon anchor channels.
Outlook for the coming year
The year 2024 will certainly be no less exciting than the last. Mr. Gessert has a lot planned for the coming year 2024. Together with the PohlCon team, he aims to dovetail the various company divisions even more closely and highlight their individual strengths.
And some trade fair appearances are already planned. The highlight of the coming trade fair year will definitely be Light+Building in Frankfurt, which starts at the beginning of March. And there will certainly be some new products to marvel at on the trade fair stands.
