The University of Zurich (UZH) continues to grow, construction phase by construction phase. Since 1973, the Irchel campus has been renovated, densified and expanded. A central square is to be created for each sub-area, offering opportunities to meet and linger. The entire area will be developed with a superordinate pedestrian and bicycle path system. By 2050, the total floor space of the Irchel campus will be increased from 143,000 square metres today to approximately 283,000 square metres.
The 5th construction phase at the Irchel site began in 2016. Included in this project: our GFK reinforcement FIBERNOX® V-ROD. The glass fibre reinforcement was used here in the foundation slab of the machine storage in the nuclear medicine building. The high-strength and durable GFK reinforcement FIBERNOX® V-ROD is non-magnetic and only slightly electrically conductive. This means that the measuring instruments in the floor ceiling of the institute are not affected and the flow of interference currents via the reinforcement is excluded.
H-BAU Technik supplied FIBERNOX® V-ROD GRP reinforcement with a diameter of 32 mm (straight bars) and 25 mm (curved bars) as well as FIBERNOX spacers.
