In the northeast of Lower Saxony, construction work for the expansion and modernization of the Stadorf substation is in full swing. The construction owner, TenneT TSO GmbH, one of four transmission system operators in Germany, is responding with this project to the ever-increasing supraregional role of the plant and the demand for greater grid stability. To this end, the plant is being extensively modernized and expanded to include a series compensation system (TCSC, Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitors), which makes it possible to artificially reduce line resistances. This plant is the first of its kind in Germany.
FIBERNOX® V-ROD convinces
The coils used in the TCSC system prescribe a defined space to the coil foundations in which no metallic parts are allowed due to possible magnetic currents. This also includes the reinforcing elements of the foundations used. For this reason, instead of the usual reinforcing steel, the glass fiber reinforcement FIBERNOX® V-ROD of our brand H-BAU Technik was used for the reinforcement of the 48 foundation blocks. The straight and curved reinforcing bars were the ideal choice, as they are neither electrically conductive nor magnetic and impress with their maximum strength and durability. In addition, the matching FIBERNOX® spacers were also used for the work.
Success through versatility
The concrete reinforcement bars are made of ecologically sustainable fibre composite material, a combination of high-quality glass fibres and a strong vinyl ester resin. The GRP reinforcement is characterised by its high corrosion and alkali resistance, low thermal conductivity and easy machinability. It also has a high tensile strength with low weight and great adhesion in concrete.
