Joy is an emotion that has an effect on both mental and physical health. It has been proven to promote the release of happiness hormones and reduce stress hormones. Both have the effect of strengthening the immune system and increasing resilience to stress and anxiety. This connection is particularly evident in children and was the founding idea behind Kinderhilfe Diekholzen.
The commitment of the small company run by the Ziss family began with an accident experienced by their son. After a sledging accident, he had to wait a very long time in the emergency room for treatment - without any toys or books to distract him from the pain and fear. The fact that there were no toys or anything similar in the emergency room left Sabrina Ziss in awe. The idea of comfort teddies was born.
Security in the moment of horror
Today, Kinderhilfe is committed to providing ambulances, ambulances, children's hospices, children's clinics and children's wards throughout Germany with the cuddly toys free of charge. The teddies reassure the little patients in their emergency situation. They accompany them to examinations and help the children to overcome shock and uncertainty.
"Children don't like to tell people other than their parents where they feel pain. It is much easier for them to show the doctor where the teddy bear is injured. When the teddy bear is shown how the heart and lungs are listened to, the abdomen is palpated and a bandage is applied, it takes away a lot of fear of the examinations," explains Ms. Ziss. After the treatment, the children can of course take their teddy bear home with them.
Every teddy helps! We help too.
PohlCon is very impressed by the work of Kinderhilfe and would like to support the small family business. With this in mind, we have decided to make a Christmas donation which will be used to buy and distribute new comfort teddies.
At our request, the little cuddly friends will be donated to hospitals near some of our locations. These are the children's wards of the Verbundkrankenhaus near Schönecken and the St. Elisabethen-Krankenhaus near Klettgau, as well as the children's wards of the Klinikum Westbrandenburg near Großbeeren and the Waldkrankenhaus Berlin-Spandau.
We are delighted that PohlCon is able to provide 340 comfort teddies with this donation and thus ensure more smiling children's faces.
