In addition to their load-bearing function, columns also fulfil an aesthetic function: they enhance the appearance of the building. The highest demands are placed on exposed concrete columns. Their surface quality significantly determines the visual perception of the room and the supporting structure itself.
Our RAPIDOBAT® formwork tube is customised to the customer's requirements – both technically and visually. All formwork tubes consist of multi-layer paper and cardboard sheets that provide a stable hold for the freshly poured concrete. The demoulding process is quick and damage-free thanks to an integrated tear rope. The formwork material can be separated by type, making it a sustainable solution for the construction and resource industry.
The product range at a glance
Various product variants are available to the customer – depending on the desired standard:
“RAPIDOBAT® Cretcon HD” is our top product. The special inner coating of the pipe, the so-called hydrogel shell skin, activates itself on contact with concrete. It makes it possible to cast extremely smooth concrete structures that comply with the highest exposed concrete class SB 4, the highest porosity class P 4 and the highest colour uniformity class FT 3. This has been impressively proven in laboratory tests. In combination with high-quality concrete, this results in columns that are in no way inferior to marble columns in terms of appearance. This makes RAPIDOBAT® Cretcon HD the first choice, especially for those components that are to be placed in prestigious areas of the building.
“RAPIDOBAT® lined” has a special foil insert in the formwork tube, which creates very smooth concrete structures that correspond to the second-highest exposed concrete class SB 3. The formwork material is extremely hard-wearing and can also withstand driving rain.
Columns made with “RAPIDOBAT® unlined” have a slightly visible spiral pattern. As an economical solution, they are primarily suitable for subordinate structures such as basements and underground car parks.

In addition to formwork tubes with a classic, round cross-section, PohlCon also offers formwork bodies for semi-circular, oval and polygonal columns as well as for bases and capitals – special shapes can also be realised. This variety of shapes is available for all product variants and tube diameters.
